12 Year Old Confronts Lawmaker on California Budget Crisis
Give ’em hell, honey!
It is not my intention to harp on California’s budget crisis, but this story is so wonderful it merits mention.
12 year old Ashante Throwerwommack of Sacramento confronted Republican state Assemblyman Sam Blakeslee, asking him why California’s budget cuts continue to fall on the shoulders of children. “I was wondering why is it that us children seem to suffer from the schools getting cut and some of those schools are really good schools,” Miss Throwerwommack asked.
You know what? Assemblyman Blakeslee responded to her concerns, too. He is quoted as saying legislators and the governor are working hard to protect education funding and that California’s declining tax revenues have resulted in limited options for lawmakers.
